Obituary of Jessie Ann Tumelty

Jessie A. Tumelty, (nee Singley) 90, of Elmtowne passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, July 5, 2024 in Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. She was born in Mahoning, Pennsylvania to the late Jesse and Anna Singley. She was an ER Nurse at the University of Pennsylvania and that is where she met her husband Joe a Philadelphia Police Officer. Jessie married the love of her love Joseph on March 16, 1961, they had 55 amazing years together until he passed in 2016. Jessie received the Nurse of the Year from the Department of Public Health. She took her knowledge to Atlantic County Institute of Technology where she taught the next generation of nurses. Jessie was an avid sports fan. She had a tremendous love for the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Football. Her other hobbies included reading, fellowship with friends and collecting famous quotes. Jessie lived her life to the fullest with gratitude, respect, humility, generosity, humor, and prayer. She always had a positive attitude and encouraged others to do the same. She was fun-loving and the life the of the party wherever she went. She had an outfit and hat for every holiday. Jessie had a strong faith and loved worship at the First United Methodist Church in Hammonton. She was regularly active in missions and outreach. Jessie was a part of the SPRC Committee, and she coordinated monthly social luncheons. Jessie was always there to pray with you and lend a helping hand in any way she could. Life brought Jessie many friends that became her family. She is a treasure whose love is woven into the fabric of many hearts. Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, July 13, 2024, 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 398 Bellevue Ave., Hammonton, NJ 08037, where a visitation with family and friends will be held from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Jessie was the sunshine for so many loved ones.
