Obituary of Loretta D. "Lorie" Foster

Loretta "Lorie" Foster (nee Dickinson), 64, of Woodstown, NJ passed away on July 20, 2022, after a 17-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Lorie was raised in Hammonton, NJ where she attended Hammonton High School. She subsequently earned a bachelor's degree in Education from West Chester State College and a master's degree in Student Personnel Services from Glassboro State College. She was a lifelong educator, who worked at Haddon Township High School for 32 years before retiring in 2011. As a teacher, counselor, and athletic coach she positively impacted the lives of so many young adults. While at Haddon Township, she coached many sports, most notably men's and women's tennis, affectionally known as "Sarge" for her strict but caring approach to coaching. Lorie was a gifted athlete who was inducted into the Hammonton High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a student, the Haddon Township Athletic Hall of Fame as a coach and was honored by the NJ State Coaches Association and NJ State Interscholastic Athletic Association for her dedication to coaching tennis. Outside of work, Lorie enjoyed traveling with her husband Rich and previously, training for and competing in several marathons, including the New York City Marathon. Lorie was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Marie Dickinson. She is survived by her husband Rich, who also taught at Haddon Township High School for 30 years. She is also survived by siblings Debbie (Joe) Mazzagatti, John (Karen) Dickinson, Rich (Jacki) Dickinson, and Maria (Scott) DiBona, and nieces/nephews; Lisa (Drew), Paul (Lindsay), Jenny (Jeff), John, Kelley (TJ), Kimberley, Madalyn, Bryan, and Shawn, all of whom looked up to their aunt as a role model who worked hard and "did what's right". Also survived by seven great nieces/nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 25, 2022, 11:30 am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph's 226 French Street, Hammonton where a visitation will be held from 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Entombment will follow in Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
