Charles L. Caruso, 87 of Hammonton died Saturday at Virtua Hospital in Berlin. Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident there. Mr. Caruso was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Medal. He was a member and formerly served as President of the Sons and Daughters of America Lodge No. 123 , and he was a member V.F.W. Post No. 1026 both in Hammonton. Before retiring he worked for Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. He is survived by his wife, Gloria A. Caruso (nee Ammirato), one son, Charles A. Caruso of Hammonton, two grandchildren, Tina Zakerowsky of Ventnor, and Charles A. Caruso Jr. of Hammonton, one brother, Norman Tomasello of Elm. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Charles life on Saturday April 2, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Caruso Residence, 22 Pressey Street in Hammonton.
