Anthony P. Balestrieri, 76, of Folsom passed away at his residence on Thursday. Born in Buffalo, NY he lived in Folsom for 22 years. He was a retired Force Master Chief for the U.S. Navy. He started his career in March 1956 and retired in June 1988. Master Chief Balestrieri served a distinguished career in the following commands and units: ET "A" School, Great Lakes, Ill., Submarine School, New London, CT, USS Capatain (SS 336), USS Seadragon (SSN 584), USS Pollack (SSN 603), Fleet Combat Training Center, Dam Neck, VA, USS John Adams (SSBN 620), Staff, Submarine Force Atlantic Fleet, USS Ohio (SSBN 726), USNS Range Sentinel (T-AGM 22), Headquarters, Military Sealift Command. He received the following awards and decorations: Navy Commendation Medal (Three Awards), Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Battle "E", Good Conduct Medal (Eight Awards); Silver Dolphins, Poseidon/Polaris Patrol Pin with one silver and four gold stars. Mr. Balestrieri was a member of the Somers Point VFW and the USS Pollack Association. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Balestrieri was predeceased by his wife Dolores L. Balestrieri. He is survived by his son: Nicholas A. Balestrieri and his wife Stephanie of Virginia Beach; one daughter: Natalie Balestrieri of New York; one brother: Joe Balestrieri of Buffalo, NY; three sisters: Rose Marino of Buffalo, Angelina O'Donald of Huntington Beach, CA, Isabella Calieri of Las Vegas, NV, and his grandchildren: Nicholas II, Tamir, David, Anthony, Mikey, Samantha, Lindsey, Denise and Joy and his beloved friends Barbara and Gary Adams and family. Graveside services will be held Monday 11:30am in Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ. A viewing will be held Sunday 3:00pm until 5:00pm and again on Monday from 9:00am until 10:00am at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton.
