In tribute to Ton Gerard I will remember him always as the uncle who loved to travel. His trips to Africa, France and Italy, was the basis of our storytelling at his house during summer vacation. I cherished the Sunday drive to Riviere Froide, Haiti, even the one where the river current swept me away and Unc in hot pursuit with a long branch keeping me from drowning. His love of music and sense of fun was contagious. After we migrated to the states the family still would gather at his house coming from different parts, New York, Boston and Washington.
Ton Gerard was multi-talented. He was a great tailor, creating his own pattern for his suit. He also paint and played the piano. The painting of the Brooklyn Bridge was my favorite. His love of music, spanned from Aznavour, Tino Rossi, Nat King Cole and Charlie Price, to named a few. Music filled his house.
I visited Unc this past Saturday, I was happy to see how well he looked. How at peace he seemed. He gained a little weight, his complexion cleared. He wanted us to stay a little longer. I am so happy I visited him.
My deepest sympathy
