Lester Griffith, 80, of Pemberton, NJ passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 in AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center -Mainland Division. Born in Brooklyn, NY he lived in Pemberton for 45 years. Mr. Griffith retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after serving over 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retirement he went to work as a Corrections Officer at Trenton State Prison where he worked for over 25 years. He was a faithful member of the Hammonton First Assembly of God Church where he volunteered as a greeter. He was a member of the Friday Night Bowling League at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. He was also an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Sakia Surratt, and his two sisters, Shirley and Pearl. Mr. Griffith is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Griffith (nee Malmberg), his son, Lester Griffith, III of New Hampshire; his three daughters, Laurie Surratt of Mays Landing, Linda Blauvelt of Williamstown; Lisa Clausel and her husband Carlos of San Antonio, TX; his brother Eugene Griffith of New York; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, 9:00am until 10:00am in the Hammonton First Assembly of God Church, 272 Route 206, Hammonton, NJ 08037, where funeral services will be held at 10:00am. Burial will be held in Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
