Obituary of Anthony E. Scaffidi
Anthony E. Scaffidi, 91 of Hammonton passed away on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at home. Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident there . Anthony and his wife Rita were the owners of Hammonton Auto Supply for 50 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. Anthony was a longtime member of the Hammonton Kiwanis Club, VFW Post No. 1026, American Legion F.A. Funston Post 186, American Jobbers Association, Big "A" Jobbers National Advisory Council, the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus St. Vincent Palloti Council No. 3477, a 50 year member of the Men of Malvern, the N.J. Automotive Wholesalers Assoc. where he served as Chairman of the Board, and he was a charter founder of the American Family Immigration History Center at Ellis Island. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Rita P. Scaffidi. Anthony is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Tomasello and her husband Jack, of Hammonton, Donna Alcott and her husband Stanley of Mt. Ephraim, his sister, Annabel Mitchell of Hammonton; four grandchildren, Sean and Kara Tomasello; Johnny and Katie Rose Gibson. A viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, 10:00am - 12:00pm at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph's 226 French St., Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.
