I was shocked to read of Norman’s death. His mother,Iris, was my mum’s sister and came from an Ulster Presbyterian family (Londonderry). I met Norman twice in Derry when he was 8and my recurrent memory was of a kid who craved meatballs! I remember the family living in Pleasantville, New Jersey. It’s a shock to hear of someone distantly related dying young-ish. Our Northern Irish family is spread over England mainly -Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds and Leicester- and it’s a shame an ocean divides and memories fade. I wish Norman’s wife and family my deepest condolences from England.

PS You may not know this but Norman’s mum had a gran whose sister had a daughter. That daughter is Angela Lansbury if Murder She Wrote fame.
