Obituary of Dr. John A. Meale, M.D.

Dr. John A. Meale, M.D., 88, of Hammonton, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday April 8, 2016. Born in Pagani, Italy, he came to America in 1960, then moved to Hammonton in 1969. Dr. Meale interned at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia before setting up a pediatric practice in Hammonton which he ran for over 30 years. He faithfully served his patients in Hammonton because he truly loved children and being a doctor. He had a great love of classical music, spoke many different languages, and never forgot where he came from, his beloved Italy. Dr. Meale enjoyed photography, writing books of poetry, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Anita Meale (nee Ricci), and his sister, Francesca D'Antonio. Dr. Meale is survived by his three sons, Rick Meale (Elisa) of Shamong, Albert Meale of Williamsport, PA; John A. Meale, Jr. (Tami) of Tabernacle; two sisters, Sofia Olivieri and Pia Localzo, both of Italy, and eight grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 3:00pm at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, where a visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
