Obituary of Marian Sacco

Marian (nee Ciocco) Sacco, 95, of Hammonton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Spring Village at Galloway. Born on November 1, 1920 in Landisville, she attended Vineland High School. Marian played softball on the Landisville Go Getters, winning the 1940 South Jersey Championships. Trained as a seamstress in Philadelphia, Marian worked for 40 years in the clothing industry. In addition to having her own dress-making shop on Vine Street in Hammonton, Marian worked on government contracts in Vineland during World War II, served as floor lady at the Aggressive Company in Hammonton and worked for Harbor Fashions for Leslie Faye Garments in Egg Harbor City for 15 years. Marian retired to Florida, settling in Delray Beach. She took an active part in her adult community, serving for 10 years as president of the Women's Club. She enjoyed planning the group's trips, fashion shows and fundraisers. She returned to Hammonton in 2004 to be with her family. Marian enjoyed visiting casinos, traveling around the world, cooking, needlepointing and spending time with family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years Charles "Chubby" Sacco; and her sister Natalie "Dolly" Bononcini. She is survived by daughters Judith Watson (Mark) of Delray Beach, Fla., and Lorraine Olivo (Frank) of Hammonton; sister Susan Girardi of Landisville; brother Anthony (Marilyn) Ciocco of Arizona; granddaughters Michele Donio (Robert) of Hammonton, Susan Leiser (Mark) of Hammonton, and Monica Kemp (Jason) of Hammonton; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street, Hammonton. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church. Entombment will follow in Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Eye Foundation, 1631 Lancaster Drive, Suite 200, Grapevine, Texas 76051.
