Patricia J. Monzo, of 2190 Richards Avenue, Nesco-Mullica Township died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Kennedy Hospital, Vitas Hospice inpatient Unit. Mrs. Monzo was born August 22, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA., daughter to the late Claude and the late Margaret (McDougall) Blanton. Married to Thomas H. Monzo, predeceased by her brother Bruce Blanton, her brother in law Darrell Jacobs and her Uncle Howard Messenger. She is survived by her husband Thomas H. Monzo, sons, Ralph S. and Thomas C. Monzo. Her beautiful grandchildren, Patrick and Geneva Monzo (they dearly miss their Nana), her sister Carol Jacobs of Egg Harbor Township. Also survived by her "adopted daughter" Donna Mayne Westervelt (Kevin), brothers in law, Robert (Sandy) and Joseph (Darlene) Monzo, friend, Barbara Marple and numerous nieces and nephews, Grand and Great. She was a resident of Egg Harbor City, she graduated from Egg Harbor City High School, Class of 1951. Upon graduation she chose to further her education and attended New Jersey College of Commerce located in Atlantic City. She was attending day-time classes for the first two months and then switched to the night-time classes when she became a day time employee. The Month was November 1951. When she entered into her accounting class she was introduced to one of her new classmates. His name was Tom. They both were top students in that class. Tom had already decided to enlist in the Army so he could further his own education by using the GI Benefits. This he did. Sometime in 1960, while attending a social function they met again, dated and married. The month was November 1961. Following Pats death a friend asked Tom, "How long have you two been married?" Tom's soft reply was "Not long enough." Pat was employed by the State of New Jersey at Ancora State Hospital, Personnel Department. She distinguished herself by rising from the ranks to become its Director of Personnel. She retired in 1995. She was involved in many activities that were part of her life. St. John of Gods School for Exceptional Children was one of them and deserves to be mention for the wonderful work they do for all their students. Special Olympics of New Jersey...For over 40 plus years Pat has supported and worked for this wonderful organization. She received several awards for her efforts and a personal meeting and thank you from Eunice Kennedy Shiver. In her recent years she took great pleasure attending Sunday Services at Victory Bible Church with her loving and beautiful grandchildren, Patrick and Geneva. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Oak Grove Cemetery.
