Obituary of Helmut Moschik

Please share a memory of Helmut to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helmut Moschik, 81, of Hammonton passed away peacefully on April 24, 2015 surrounded by family. He was born in Rostock, Germany on April 4, 1934 and traveled on the Greek Liner, New York, to the U.S. in September 1958 with his wife Ingrid (Graumann) and daughter Regina. They started their new life in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia to join Ingrid's cousin Grace (Bill Bevan) and her father Willy Osten. In a few years they added Jennifer (Steve Johnson) and Elizabeth (Mark Morgan) to the family. "Bop" was a proud grandfather and adored all 9 of his grandchildren; Claire Moschik, Hannah, Emily, Connor and Ryan Johnson, Kelsey, Zachary, Nicole and Scott Morgan and uncle to Bill ,Debbie and Ryan Bevan and Lori (Bevan) Joe, Julia and Daniel Giampaolo. He also leaves behind his four legged companion, Frankie. By far the most important thing to Helmut was his family. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Ingrid for 59 years and following their retirement enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean. They also traveled to Germany, Alaska, Africa, St. Croix and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with the entire family in Williamsburg, Va. Helmut started his career at the age of 15 as an apprentice painter under Carl Günther and achieved the title of Master Painter in Hamburg, Germany. After moving to this country, he worked at William Pearson & Co., Metalweld Inc., Harrah's and Trump Taj Majal in Atlantic City. He was a dedicated church member at St James Lutheran Church in Folsom for over 50 years and served on both Church Council and the Building and Property Committee for most of those years. During his lifetime he painted the church and parsonage multiple times and the homes of his children. Helmut was a devoted husband, kind and loving father, grandfather, uncle and loyal friend. He loved living on the river, feeding the deer, kayaking, playing his accordion, singing in the church choir, riding his bike and working in his yard. All who knew him will miss his sense of humor, his laughter, and his gentle and generous spirit. He is at peace and so are we. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28 at St. James Lutheran Church 1341 Mays Landing Road in Folsom beginning at 10am followed by the service at 11:30. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Carnesale Funeral Home, Hammonton. (www.carnesalefuneralhome.com)
