Obituary of Warren C. Huff

Warren C. "Buddy" Huff, born on April 9, 1931 in Camden to the late Warren C. and Lola Mae (nee Stringfield), passed away suddenly March 28, 2015 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Buddy was also predeceased by his "Mom" Annie L. Huff (nee Dilks), his brother, John W. Huff, his brothers in law, Joseph J. Woulfe; Walter F. Jones, his sister in law, Angie C. Huff and his niece Gina Durham. He served 26 years in the United States Army. Buddy served in several different units, including the 11th Armored Calvary from which he retired in 1974. Buddy was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and he was active military in Germany. He retired with a rank of E-8, Master Sergeant. He won numerous awards and accolades including the United States Army Bronze Star. After retiring from the service he worked for Airstream in Franklinville. He was Past Commander of the American Legion Post No. 4 and Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans. He also served on the American Legion Cumberland County Executive Committee and was a member of the Vineland United Veterans Council. Buddy enjoyed hunting and shooting, as he won numerous skeet and trap awards. He also enjoyed being a Ham radio operator and visiting the casinos. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting in Maine with his good friend Jimmy Meyers. The highlight of his year would be attending the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel feast in Hammonton with his brother in law Joe and eating sausage and pepper sandwiches there. He loved music including singing and playing his guitar. He was a lifetime member of the Piney Hollow Methodist Church. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends making memories and displaying his keen sense of humor. "Buddy" will be missed by all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Hildegard Huff (nee Schattenhofer), his sisters, Margaret E. Jones of Vineland, Nell E. Woulfe of Folsom, his brother, Howard H. Huff of Northfield, his three sisters in law, Arlene Huff of Florida, Rosie Converse of Austin, Texas; Anneliesa Prechtl of Rosenheim, Germany and many loving and caring nephews, nieces, friends and servicemen. Funeral Services will be held 10;00am Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Piney Hollow Methodist Church Dutch Mill & Piney Hollow Roads, Newfield. Burial will follow in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Bridgeton. A viewing will be held Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations maybe made to Piney Hollow Methodist Church c/o Joseph Jaggers 1076 South Blue Bell Road Newfield, NJ 08344 or to the American Legion Post No. 4, PO Box 491 Vineland, NJ 08362.
