Obituary of Anthony D. Pitale

Anthony D. "Tony" Pitale Sr, 93, of Hammonton passed away on Monday at home. He was born and raised on the family farm in Hammonton. Mr. Pitale was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific. He worked for Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Line and Conrail from 1946 until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Pitale was an avid hunter, and he belonged to Rosedale Gun Club, where he cooked for club functions for twenty five years, Dixie Land Hunt Club in Virginia, and Cape - Rose Hunting Club in Delaware. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, cooking, gardening, and taking care of his fig trees. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dominic Zanghi, Christy Zanghi, Charles Pitale, Pete Pitale, John Pitale and Frank Pitale; and his sisters, Grace Shelby, Jennie Letino, Josephine McCallops and Theresa Hustedde. He is survived by his wife, Marie Pitale (nee Domenico), three sons, Anthony D. Pitale Jr. (Anne) of Wall Township, Charles Pitale (Karin) of Folsom and Robert Pitale of Foot Hills, CA, he is also survived by eight grandchildren. A viewing will be held Wednesday 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. Another viewing will be held Thursday 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.
