Obituary of Jack P. Donio

Jack P. Donio, Jr. 71 of Hammonton, NJ passed away Tuesday at home with his wife Eugenia by his side. Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident there. He was a self-employed farmer and he also was a truck driver for Asphalt Paving Systems and M.L. Ruberton. Mr. Donio served in the United States Marines Corps achieving the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the Hammonton Fire Department for forty seven years where he was the longest serving Chief in Hammonton's history serving from 1988-2001. He is a Chief Emeritus and he also served as President, Lieutenant and Assistant Chief. Jack was a member of the Hammonton Exchange Club, where he served as President, he is a member of the Lonesome Dove Hunting Club, Catalano Hunting Club in Salem, Hutton Hill Shooting Club, The American Legion Post No. 186 in Hammonton, the Camden County Board of Agriculture where he also served as their President, and he was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Lillian Donio Sr. Jack is survived by his wife Eugenia Donio (nee Pignatelli); two sons, Jack Donio, III (Michelle Earle) of Buena, Thomas Donio and his wife Deborah of Folsom; his brother Joseph Donio and his wife Roseanne of Hammonton; three grandchildren, Jack Donio U.S. Coast Guard Stationed in Louisiana, Francesca Donio of Buena and Thomas F. Donio of Folsom. Also survived by his longtime friend who was like a son to him Bob Capoferri and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:30am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street in Hammonton, where a viewing will be held Friday evening from 5:30pm - 9:00pm. THERE WILL BE NO VIEWING SATURDAY MORNING. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton . Memorial Donations maybe made to the Hammonton Fire Department, 109 Front St., Hammonton, NJ 08037. Arrangements are by the Carnesale Funeral Home, Hammonton.
