Obituary of Wallace H. Chamberlain

Wallace "Wally" H. Chamberlain Jr., 77 of Newtonville passed away August 27, 2013 at his home. Born September 18, 1935 in Hammonton, NJ, he graduated from Vineland High School. Wally joined the Navy in 1956 and served in several parts of the world from the Antarctica to the Philippines. He retired from the Navy in 1976 as a Chief Aerographers Mate / Meteorological Office Supervisor. He then worked for Statewide - Highway Safety in Folsom retiring in 2003. Wally as an avid sports fan. He loved football and baseball, and for many years he officiated A.S.A. slow pitch softball in the Navy. He donated much of his time as a referee in the Folsom and Hammonton youth sports programs. He was predeceased by his parents, Wallace Chamberlain Sr., and Margaret Chamberlain (nee Keck). He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. Chamberlain (nee Schellhas), his sons, Wallace H. Chamberlain III of Florida, Eric Chamberlain (Rhonda) of Hammonton, Pete Strickland (Yvonne) of Hammonton, Matthew Strickland (Heather) of Port Republic, his daughters, Lori Reynolds (Larry) of West Virginia, Tracey Hill and Cheryl Puterbaugh both of Florida, his mother in law, Dorothy Schellhas of Newtonville, and eighteen grandchildren. A viewing will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton., where funeral services will take place at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, 109 Route 50 in Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 1341 Mays Landing Road, Folsom, NJ 08037-9135 or to the Hospice of New Jersey Foundation 400 Broadacres Drive First Floor, Bloomsfield, NJ 07003.
