Obituary of John A. Perona

John A. "Johnny" Perona, 66 of Elwood died on March 21, 2013 in an automobile accident. Born in Elwood he was a lifelong resident there. Johnny was the owner and operator of many business's throughout the years, Perona Brothers, Route 30 Garage & Auto Parts, Mike's Auto Parts, and Tremont Auto Parts. He was the founder and owner of Fourteen and Company Towing in Atlantic City. Johnny was an avid race car driver and mechanic his entire life, he frequently raced cars at Atlantic City Raceway in Pleasantville. He also enjoyed going to the casino's and playing pool. He assisted the Mullica Township Police Department in forming their first canine unit. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank A. and Elizabeth Perona Sr., his three brothers, Frank A. Perona Jr., William Perona and George "Nicky" Perona. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth " Betty" H. Perona (nee Steelman ), one daughter, Kimberly D. Perona - Scarano (Rob), adopted daughter, Sue Mastrario (Mike), seven grandchildren, Steven J. Davis, Stephanie M. Davis, Robert J. Scarano, Amy Lyn Scarano, Sara Cook, Suzie Mastrario, Sami Mastrario, one great grandson, Wyatt Cook, two brothers, Joseph Perona and Jimmy Perona, three sisters, Elizabeth Senn ( Ronald), Marie Mazza ( Anthony), and Jeannie Bassetti (Bruce), brother in law, Paul Caywood Jr. and sisters in law, Rosemarie Conaghy, Eleanor Steelman and many nephews and nieces. A viewing will be held Tuesday 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton, where funeral services will take place at 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the family would be appreciated, Perona Family, 506 Locust Street, Elwood, NJ 08217. After funeral service everyone invited to return with family for food and refreshments at Nesco Fire Hall on Route 542 in Nesco.
