Obituary of James J. Virgilio, Sr.

James J. Virgilio, Sr. 89 of Hammonton passed away Thursday at Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Terra Haute, IN. Born in Winslow he was a lifelong resident of the Hammonton area. Mr. Virgilio was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Virgilio worked for many years at Kessler Clothing Company in Hammonton, and for Krimp's Ship Building in Philadelphia, PA. He was also a social worker for the Atlantic County Jail and he was security guard for many years at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton. He served as a member of the Hammonton Police Reserves. He was a member of the International Ladies Garment Worker's Union and he was a member and longtime usher at St. Martin DePorres R.C. Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie C. Virgilio and his son, Bryan G. Virgilio. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, James J. and Pam Virgilio Jr. of Terra Haute, IN, his daughter in law, Ruth Virgilio of Folsom , his brother, Joseph Virgilio and his wife Grace of Pennsylvania, his sister, Grace Pastor of Franklinville, six grandchildren, Gina Virgilio, James J. Virgilio III, Anthony Virgilio, Laurie Thibaudeau, Bryan Virgilio and David Virgilio, four great grandchildren, Erin, Leah, Christine and Tony. A viewing will be held Tuesday August 14, 2012 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Martin DePorres, 129 Park Avenue in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, 226 French Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037, or to the National Parkinson's Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
