Obituary of Walter F. Jones

Walter F. Jones, (Walt) 83 of Buena Vista Township, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday Aug. 5 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Jan. 17, 1929 in New York City he moved from there to Buena Vista Twp. in 1945. Walt served in the U.S. Army stationed for 2 years in the Panama Canal Zone, then Camp Hood, TX in the "Hell on Wheels" 2nd Armored Division. He was employed by Owens-Illinois, Kimble Glass Division in Vineland for 37 years retiring in 1986. Walt was a member of the Piney Hollow United Methodist Church. Fond memories include playing the pots and pans band with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed "chasing & scaring" them with the flashlight. His family enjoyed his tales of growing up in New York City. He was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed fishing. He loved tinkering and fixing things. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter M. & Emma M. Jones, his sister, Elsie Keresztenyi, his brother, Edward Jones and his son, Walter F. Jones, Jr. Walt is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Jones (nee Huff), three daughters Barbara Burak (Bill), Diana Nichols (Tim), Sharon Flem (Bob); his grandchildren, Jennifer Perez, Mike Muzzarelli, Nicole Trull, Timothy Nichols, Jr., Rachel, Stephanie, Melissa & Robert Flem; 6 great grandchildren, his nephew John (Janet), his niece Susan and his dog Sparky. Memorial Services will be held Saturday 3:00pm in Piney Hollow United Methodist Church, Piney Hollow & Dutch Mill Roads, where a visitation will be held from 2:30 pm until 3:00pm. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice 6550 Delilah Rd.
