I was fortunate enough to have Gloria Scaffidi as my eighth grade English teacher in Hammonton. Her influence on my life was amazing and because of her I, too, became an English teacher. Interestingly enough, we found one another as a result of my book, A Dickens Of A Life, in which I wrote about her. I will treasure, always, letters and cards from her in recent years. She was an extraordinary teacher, a beautiful person, and someone whose influence as a teacher truly changed the life of a thirteen year old ward of the state who became a successful educator. God rest dear Gloria’s soul as flights of angels wing her into the hands of God.
