Obituary of Felix Ortiz-Fuentes
Please share a memory of Felix to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Felix "Chalo" Ortiz-Fuentes, 79 of Winslow Township, NJ passed away suddenly on November 18, 2024. He was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico. Feliz was a school bus driver for Winslow school district for over 5 years. He loved to drive the kids around and drove until he had his heart attack. He was devastated when he couldn't drive anymore because it was his passion, but he refocused his time in his junkyard. He absolutely loved that place! He loved going crabbing, fishing and he had an immense passion for raising farm animals. He often raised pigs and goats. He raised chickens and rabbits for as long as we can all remember. The roosters always woke up the house at the crack of dawn. He junked cars in his free time and always drove with his granddaughter Katrina as his sidekick. He collected aluminum cans and would drive over them with his tractor until he had drones of them and cashed them in. He enjoyed spending quality time with his immediate family. Making us food such as pasteles, rice and beans and baked chicken.
He and Maria were the epitome of Tom and Jerry. They loved to hate each other and hated to love each other. But when one of them got sick they catered to one another. They were sweet as can be to each other but once one of them was better it was back to basics. But they loved each other to the very end. He always seemed to love the paranormal and spiritual talks with his daughter Nancy and enjoyed the Cuban and merengue music she played for him. He always reminisced about the past with his son Roberto and was always in a good mood with him. He was thankful for his daughter Grisell, who always took him to his doctor's appointments. He was deeply loved by his family. He will be sorely missed
His pride and joy were his grandchildren. And would often talk to himself in the kitchen while he made coffee and dinner and say "Los chuchulones lo amo." He always talked about his family out loud and couldn't wait to see us. He was always sad to see his family leave to go back to Philadelphia and would always ask when we would come back to visit again.
Felix is survived by his wife, Maria Lourdes Cartagena Ortiz (Siñajuana), his children, Nancy Ortiz (La gorda, choochoolu), Grisell Ortiz (chela), Felix Ortiz (el loco), Roberto Ortiz (Tuto); his siblings, William Ortiz, Francisco Ortiz, Jose Antonio Ortiz, Miriam Ortiz, Ana Hilda Ortiz, Eneida Ortiz, Margarita Ortiz, Emma Ortiz Gomez, Virginia Ortiz Acosta, Blanca I Ortiz, Omayra Ortiz, Olga Ortiz; his grandchildren, Katrina Sherfield (mogi, mogeen, negra), Cynthia Rodriguez (flaca), Yanina Kayla Cruz (choochoolu), Hector Velez (nalga prieta), Joshua Velez (hincho), Ciara Velez (mojon de puerco), Eduardo Velez (choochoolu), Nathaniel Velez (El mulato).
