Heaven gained a new angel. Marcia A. Smith left us peacefully on September 15, 2024, with her devoted husband, Lawrence Smith Sr. by her side. Marcia was born on February 11, 1955, to Nicholas and Helen Merlo, and she grew up in Hammonton, NJ. A proud graduate of St. Joseph's class of 1973, she cherished the bonds she formed, recently celebrating years with her classmates. On October 16, 1976, she married Larry and together they created a loving home in Collings Lakes before settling in Folsom to raise their two sons, Larry Jr. (Nicole) and Kyle (Jesseca). Marcia's greatest passion was her family, including her brother Nicholas Merlo and numerous cousins. She took immense pride in being a "Mom-Mom" to her wonderful grandchildren: Haley (Albert), Brianna, Ethan, Mackenzie, and Mia, as well as her great-grandson, Frankie. Marcia was truly one of a kind, with a heart of gold. For many years, Marcia served as a member of the Sunshine Foundation and retired as a dedicated aide at Hammonton ECEC, where she made lasting friendships with her amazing students and co-teachers. Marcia was a true caregiver to all. She was always the first to check on friends and family, often bringing baked goods and heartfelt phone calls. Her love for nature shone through in her passion for planting flowers and raising monarch butterflies, sharing these joys with her grandchildren. Marcia was also known for her care of the neighborhood birds and hummingbirds, always providing them with the best food. Marcia enjoyed going to the beach and collecting sea shells with her grandkids every summer as she vacationed in Brigantine with her family and week 32! A true Disney enthusiast, Marcia's home was a testament to her love for all things Disney, resembling a store or museum. She relished planning trips to Disney, creating cherished memories with her family. Marcia was truly one of a kind and made lasting impacts on every person she met. Her motto was simple: always be kind and make time for family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marcia's Celebration of Life on Saturday September 21, 2024 from 9:00 am-11:30 am with a memorial service at 11:30 am at the Carnesale Funeral Home located at 202 S Third Street in Hammonton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Sunshine Foundation ¨In memory of Marcia¨ 101 Lakeside Park, Southampton, PA 18966.
