Michael James Carty Jr. Obituary

Michael James Carty, Jr., 40, resided in Atco, NJ with his father and passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in Atlantic City. Born in Willingboro, NJ, he was a lifelong Camden County resident. Michael was a graduate of Edgewood Regional High School where he was a member of their marching band and theater. He attended Camden and Mercer County Colleges and aspired to become a pilot. He was a self-employed tow truck driver and loved helping out his dad and friends with his tow truck. Michael started the John DeSheplo Cancer Foundation to honor his best friend and volunteered his time in the community, specifically as an MC for Winter on the Avenue in Atco and at Waterford Twp. Day. He loved being on stage and was musically talented and performed in many shows, he and his dad were also extras in the Creed movie. Mike was always joking and making his friends and family laugh and did stand-up comedy at various comedy clubs and shows. He enjoyed sharing his love of food with family and friends, going to the movies and casinos and was always ready to lend a helping hand with his dad at his shop. Michael was remarkably close with his father, with whom they did everything together. His son Carter was the apple of his eye and Mike loved him dearly. Even though there were miles of distance between them, he was always thinking of Carter and trying to contact him.


Michael is survived by his beloved son, Carter Ricky Carty, his father, Michael J. Carty, Sr., his mother, Linda Lee Wolf, his sister, Michele Lee Carty Grether, her children Brielle Lee Carty and Erich Michael Grether, his brother, Michael James (Mandy) Britt, their children Mikey and Miles, his godparents and great uncle, Joseph and Maryann Kwietkowski, their children Christopher (Kayla) and Maryann (Joey Isaia), their daughter Madeline, his aunt, Sherry (Terry Peterson), and her children Rev. Michael (Zenie) Zdorow, their child William, Michelle (Chris Ritchie) Zdorow, their daughter Rhylan, his uncle, David (Peggy) Carty and many other relatives and friends.


Michael is predeceased by his grandparents, Jerome and Jean Carty, James Morrow, Connie and Jack Parks and his dear friends, John DeSheplo and Kevin Roberts.


Services will be held at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, NJ on Saturday, July 20, 2024, starting with the viewing from 9:00 am until 10:30am followed by the funeral service starting at 10:30am. Last ride and burial will immediately follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 1007-1009 Cedar Lane Florence, NJ.
