Aida L. Ruiz (nee Lopez), 84 of Hammonton passed away suddenly on Monday, July 1, 2024 at home with her family by her side. Born and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Aida moved to New Jersey in 1959. She was a seamstress and worked in the casinos in the food and beverage department before retiring. She was a loving wife, mother, abuela and friend who enjoyed cooking for her family, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but her greatest joy of all was just spending time with her family. She made the best rice and beans, pasteles, and empanadas. You could always find her with her nails done, and her bingo bag ready to go.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Maximino Ruiz; her children, Maximino Ruiz (Lisa) of Hammonton, Antonio Ruiz (Evelyn) of Alabama, Carlos Ruiz (Sukie) of Hammonton, and William Ruiz (Margaret) of Hammonton; her grandchildren, Mayisha Ruiz (Dan), Lucas Ruiz (Carly), Crystal Ruiz, Ashley Ruiz (Gonzo), Jessa Kelly (Tom), Maddy Fanz (Colton), William Ruiz, Dominick Ruiz, and Jonathan Ruiz; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings William Lopez, Nelson Lopez, and Lillian Jimenez; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ramon and Ramona Lopez; siblings Ismael Lopez, Syra Gaztambide-Riberas, and Miriam Lopez.
A visitation will held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 9:30AM – 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish 226 French Street, Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
