Obituary of Thomas R. Franks

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas R. Franks, age 71, passed away peacefully in his home, with his family by his side, on April 19, 2024. Born in Philadelphia on January 29, 1953, Tom was raised in Collings Lakes, NJ and graduated from Vineland High School in 1971. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Rosemary Franks and sister Sharon. Tom is survived by his loving wife of nearly 33 years, Barbara (nee Middleton). Beloved stepfather of Timothy (Maureen). Brother of Roseanne (Andrew), Stephen (Laura), Annamae (Dave), Catherine (Wayne), and Sandra (Dave). Proud "Pop" of Morgan and Timothy "TJ" and great grandpop of Mckenzie. Tom is also survived by many nieces and nephews. After high school, Tom enjoyed a career in carpentry, where he perfected his craft. He was a meticulous finish carpenter, but after 18 years he decided is was time for change, got his CDL, and began a new career at Sysco Foods in Philadelphia. Tom continued this career for 21 years and received several awards during that time. He was recognized as "Coastal Driver of the Year" for his long hours and dedication to the company and his coworkers. Tom gave his heart to the Lord on March 3, 1991 and never looked back. As Tom did with everything, he put his heart and soul into serving his Lord. Tom took great pride in everything he set out to accomplish. Tom's number one priority in life was to make sure "his Barbara" was always taken care of. This showed in his determination and his will to live after being diagnosed with terminal/inoperable liver cancer on December 16, 2016, where he was given just 6-12 months to live. From that point, Tom fought this disease with vigor and a willingness to survive, to ensure their home was ready for the day he was called to meet his Lord and Savior. Tom maintained the yard, remodeled the bathroom and the kitchen, and redid the exterior of the home as well, all while fighting to survive another day. Tom was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Selah Ministries, 321 E. Flower Street, Landisville, NJ 08326. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Adult & Teen Challenge at: tcnewengland.org
