Jeannie Smith (nee LoSasso), 87, of Hammonton passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, November 6, 2023. Born and raised in Hammonton she lived on Bulltown Road in Batsto for thirty two years, then moved back to Hammonton two years ago. Jeannie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas B. Smith, her parents, Ralph and Bessie LoSasso (nee Carr), her sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Pinto, and Dorothy "Fuzzy" Zappala, and brothers, Ralph LoSasso Jr. and Philip (Pete) Ford. She is survived by three sisters, Rose Norris, Marie Giamporcaro and Alice "Lollie" Petruzzi, sister-in-law, Dot Corbin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeannie was no stranger to hard work. She worked alongside her siblings from a very young age on the family farm, Pleasant Mills Farm. Like many in Hammonton, Jeannie worked as a seamstress for several clothing factories and over twenty years at Whitehall Laboratories until its closing. Always on the go, Jeannie enjoyed meeting with friends at McDonald's . While living in Batsto there was always somebody stopping in for a cup of coffee. When Jeannie wasn't serving her guests, she was feeding all the deer, as well as any other wildlife that paid her a visit. Stray cats would always know where to find Jeannie, two of which became her best companions, never far from her side to the very end. Going to the casino, playing bingo, or enjoying a game of solitaire were some of Jeannie's favorite pastimes. Jeannie will always be remembered for being a loving sister and aunt, a good friend, and a great lady. She helped anybody who crossed her path and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness will never be forgotten. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10,2023 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton, where funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Batsto Pleasant Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary, 6908 Railroad Blvd., Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
