Obituary of Marie T. Campanella

Marie T. Campanella (nee Jacobs), 80, of Hammonton passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Born in Hammonton, she was a lifelong resident there. Marie was a dedicated teacher of over 30 years in the Hammonton School District where her warm and caring approach to teaching made a positive impact on the many students whose lives she touched. She was also given the honor of being awarded Teacher of the Year. Marie was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa – Alpha Alpha Chapter, the Hammonton Cancer Foundation, the Hammonton Historical Society, the Italian Heritage Foundation, and the Hammonton Education Foundation. She was a devout Catholic and active member of Saint Martin de Porres Church and St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish. She was committed to her volunteer work with the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society, where her husband served as the President for over 23 years. Marie was predeceased by her parents Peter and Jean Jacobs, her beloved husband of 55 years George Campanella Sr., her granddaughter Amanda, and her son-in-law Ed Riley. She is survived by her three children George R. Campanella Jr. (Nihad), Anna Marie Campanella, and Theresa Williamson (Al), six grandchildren Eddie (who resided with and selflessly and lovingly cared for her), Lily, Sophia, Holly, Danielle, and Willy Boy, two great grandchildren Jacob Edward and Janeau Rose, one brother Anthony Jacobs and her sister-in-law Leah Gregori, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 9:30am - 11:30am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 124 S. First Road in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alpha Delta Kappa, c/o Theresa Williamson, 860 12th St., Hammonton, NJ 08037 and/or the Hammonton Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1066, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
