Obituary of Catherine M. Hoffman

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Catherine M. Hoffman, 82, of Mullica Township passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, November 28th,2022. Cathy leaves to mourn her loving family, her brothers, John (Sally) Volk and Robert Volk. Her children, Edward (Joanne), Deborah (Joseph), and David. "Nanny" also leaves behind five grandchildren, Heather, Krystal, Jolynn (Chris), Timothy and Joseph Jr, and nine great grandchildren, Kaylalynn, Kayleigh (Krystal), Hannah, Giana (Heather), Ash (Joey), Logan, Harley (Tim), Luna and Skye (Jolynn). Along with her extended family members and cherished friends. Catherine was predeceased by her loving Husband (Forrest) of 63 years along with her parents, Steven and Helen (Basalla ) Volk. Cathy was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 24th,1940. She spent her younger years growing up in Ohio where she met the love of her life, Forrest. Everyday Forrest would walk 8.5 miles to see his Cathy and then walk those 8.5 miles back home. Catherine and Forrest couldn't wait to be wed and were finally married on June 28th, 1958. They purchased their first home in Ohio and then spent a few years in Pennsylvania. Cathy and Forrest decided to move their growing family to Atco, New Jersey and then to Hammonton, New Jersey, where they spent the rest of their days together. Cathy worked as a Supervisor in the Housekeeping Department at Ancora Hospital for 18 years prior to her retirement. For those fortunate to know Cathy, know that she went by many names. Daughter, Sister, Wife, Kitty, Cathy, Cousin, Mother, and Nanny. Every name meant the world to her. She took each name given to her and raised the bar higher for everyone else who held any of those names/titles. Catherine was a kindhearted soul and welcomed everyone with a smile. She was a very creative person and saw the world in a different way, a better way. She and Forrest would make a multitude of different types of crafts and would sell them at craft fairs and would give a lot of them away during those events because they knew that they were helping someone out or giving them away to make the other person smile. All they would ask in return is to spread kindness and to help someone else out in the future if they knew they needed help. She taught those who knew her about kindness, the gift of receiving kindness and the important reasons why we need to spread more kindness. We are heartbroken that she is no longer with us, but her memory will live on through each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and everyone who was lucky enough to know her. We are comforted knowing that Catherine is reunited with her Husband, Forrest. Forever loved, forever missed, our Catherine, our Cathy, our Sister, our Mom, our Kitty and our Nanny. It's not goodbye, it's we'll see you later. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua, 285 Route 206 in Hammonton, where Mass will be held at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, 124 S. First Road in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, 226 French Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
