Obituary of John F. DiMaio, Jr.

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Frank DiMaio Jr. 74, of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 24, 2022. John was born in Camden, NJ and raised in Williamstown, NJ by his late parents John F. DiMaio Sr. and Helen Myers. He served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and worked as the head mechanic for the Egg Harbor Township Board of Education for 21 years. He was a member of the Camden Light Artillery. John loved to be out in his shed tinkering with all his tools, whether he was working on a project, fixing something, or just cleaning things up; it was his quiet time. He really enjoyed spending his days with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren run around playing, singing, and dancing. He enjoyed going to all their sporting events like softball, soccer, and the race track to cheer them on. He spent time playing board games and cards with them, and really loved making silly faces at them. He spent years as a Boy Scout leader and loved camping and teaching them survival skills. John is predeceased by his parents John and Helen, two brothers James Greenwell (Lorraine) and Frank DiMaio (Helen), two sisters Rosie Bettevy and Joan DiMaio. John is survived by his loving wife Mary L. DiMaio (O'Neil) who will forever cherish their 50 years together with him and his four children: son John F DiMaio III (Sharron), daughter Cheryl DiMaio, son James DiMaio (Jennifer), and daughter Peggy Suhr (Albert). He was "Poppy" to ten grandchildren: Christopher DiMaio, Nichole and Johnny IV DiMaio, Rebecca, Annalena, and Julia DiMaio, Emily and Elizabeth Suhr, Raegan and David DiMaio and two great grandchildren Braedon and Asher DiMaio. He will be dearly missed by his loving sister Linda Jeffers (Robert) and sister Toni Thanhauser (William) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Viewings will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 7pm - 9pm, and again on Friday 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home located at 202 S 3rd St, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
