Obituary of Grace M. Scates Pastor

Grace M. Scates Pastor (nee Virgilio), 91, of Egg Harbor Township passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Born in Hammonton she lived most of her life there before moving to Vineland and then Egg Harbor Township nine years ago. Grace had worked as a secretary for the State of New Jersey. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the beach, singing and playing music. She also enjoyed collecting dolls, roosters, angels and bells. Grace always made sure everyone left her house well-fed. Her homemade cavatelli with gravy and salad could never be matched. Above all, Grace loved spending time with her family. She often enjoyed family games nights playing cards or dominoes or watching her favorite sports teams with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Pastor. She is survived by three children, Elliott R. Scates Sr. (Vickie), Deborah Ann Werth (Roger), and Linda Esau, her grandchildren, Ryan Rice (Diona), Lamar D. Rice (Shanna), Elliott R. Scates Jr (Allie), and five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Rayne, Myah, Major and Trusten. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. Funeral services and entombment at Greenmount Cemetery will be held privately. The family would like to say a special thank you to Samaritan Hospice especially her nurses, Vivian and Debbie and her aide Debbie.
