Just finished his book, loved it. My Dad was a maintainer with the 77th Fighter Squadron in England and Dr. Streitfeld's memoir rang very true. May God Bless him and all those who served with him in the Mighty Eighth

I recently uploaded Len's lecture at the Abington Library, which was held on April 15, 2003, and wanted to share that with his friends and family. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/Fgvmf44nqbw

Doc Streitfeld was one of my mentors. I met him at the Ventnor City Chess Club in the sixties when I was in high school. In college when I was deciding on a career he invited me to his office and showed the joys of optometry as a profession. He enjoyed expanding his horizons and taking care of his patients. He also loved talking about his WW2 experiences flying. He also loved and was proud of his family. I was blessed to have known him and he will be missed.

To the family of Doc Streitfeld,
When I was quite young, my Mother took me to Doc for my first eye exam, and he prescribed my "first pair" of glasses. I remember his wife Mary sitting at the desk, taking phone calls and tending to the waiting room. As time went on, Mary and
I were both members of the Woman's Civic Club. Doc and my husband Bob,
members of the American Legion. That is how friendships come about in a small town such as Hammonton. People with common interests "bond" and they share their personal history, they care about one another. Doc was a perfect example of "caring for humanity." He was a gentlemen, and it was a privilege to know him.
Gaze at the stars, in one of them "Doc" will be living. In another he will be laughing, and so it goes because that is the way you all would want it. Remember the good life you all had with him, and your mother as well. Now they are together, and they are at Peace. There was laughter, tears, hugs, and irreplaceable experiences that will give all of you strength and courage to carry on.
With my deepest Sympathy, Joanna Presti Conn.
