Obituary of Edward J. McManus

Edward J. McManus, 76, of Margate passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 16, 2023 at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Galloway Township. He was born in Philadelphia where he lived for many years before moving to Margate ten years ago. He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School and then the University of Pennsylvania both in Philadelphia. Before retiring he worked as a Cost Analyst for L3 Communications prior to that General Electric, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin. As a young man Ed enjoyed fishing and crabbing with his family and now golfing with his son, brother and grandsons. What Ed enjoyed most was traveling anywhere to watch his grandchildren do just about anything. Ed served as a board member for the Katie Kirlin Fund He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Caroline McManus, his brother, Steven McManus and his sister in law, Lucille McManus. Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Anne McManus (nee Dean), three children, Michael McManus (Jeanne), Coleen McManus and Erin Varallo (Sal), his siblings, James McManus, Thomas McManus (Fran), Doris Philpott (Bill), seven grandchildren, Josh (Alexis), Frank, Michael, Julia, Alex, Nick, and Lizzie, one great grandchild, Claire and one on the way. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Parish - Blessed Sacrament Church, 8501 Ventnor Avenue in Margate, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the: Katie Kirlin Fund, 229 Wolf Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148.
