Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let you and your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to The Fisher House Foundation to honor and remember Christopher J. Castaneda US Army Private. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the family of Christopher Castaneda-
My name is Nicco Nicoletti, and I am 11 years old, I attend Santa Clara De Asis Catholic Church in Yorba Linda, CA. Our Pastor, Fred Bailey, has a tradition each year of honoring the men and women that served the United States Military, but have lost their lives protecting us every Memorial Day. Each name of the soldiers that have passed away in the passed year are put into a basket. Everybody in our church picks a brave solider to pray for. I chose Chris for my solider. Somethings I saw about Chris was that he was a young, brave, and smart solider. I will keep Chris in my thoughts and prayers every day. Each Memorial Day I will keep not only the other soldiers that passed away in mind I will also remember Chris and how he fought for our safety.

In the rising of the sun and its going down,
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
In the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring.
In the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer,
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
When we are weary and in need of strength,
When we are lost and sick of heart,
When we have joys and special celebrations we yearn to share,
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are part of us.
We Remember Them...
"The New Jersey Run for the Fallen is an organization of runners (all active duty military) and support crew whose mission is clear and simple: To run one mile for every New Jersey service member who has died during the current wars and conflicts. Each mile of sweat and pain and each flag saluted, is to pay homage to one service member’s life and their family.
The last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of September, we run across New Jersey to raise awareness for the lives of those who fought and died, to rejuvenate their memories and keep their spirits alive, to support organizations that aid the families of those killed, and to aid in the healing process for the native New Jersey residents whose lives have been affected by the war.
We refuse any political affiliation or agenda, but simply honor those who have fought, and those who have fallen under the American flag."

My son, who is in Afghanistan right now was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division (Infantry) in Ft. Polk, LA. I want to take this opportunity to offer my deepest condolences to Christopher's family and friends. I am full of sorrow for the great loss of our Christopher and send my most heartfelt love to you.
I think of Christopher and remain inspired by his unique gifts. He was not afraid to be himself as so many of us are. Rather, Christopher chose sharing himself though his beautiful mind, colorful spirit and ultimately in his service for all of us and his country. He could not help but stand out as the rainbow in the room that others could not help but notice and often were left with a rush of awe. Christopher will remain missed, yet still shines in his death.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on the snow. I am the sunlight that ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die.
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.
Love Elizabeth
