Margaret L. ""Marci"" Rea Obituary

Margaret L. "Marci" Rea, 86, of Hammonton, NJ passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Friday, May 29, 2026, at her residence. Born in Elgin, IL, she lived in Hammonton for over 40 years.


Marci earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry at Grinnell College, and a Ph.D. in chemistry at Tufts University. She was a professor at Stockton State College, became Business Manager for the School of Chemistry at Rutgers University, did hazardous chemical safety training for J,T, Baker Company, worked as a lab tech at Kessler Hospital, and then started teaching high school chemistry. She retired from teaching from Charter-Tech High School in Somers Point.


She was a charter member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore in Galloway Township and was a member of the Mustard Seed Sacred Dance Guild.


Marci was predeceased by her parents Obid Russell and Alice M. Rea, and her brother Michael Benn Rea. She is survived by her husband Michael J. Hozik, her son, John Michael Trindle and his spouse Tedi; her daughter, Melissa Katherine Rose Hozik and her spouse Christopher Wilcox; her grandchildren, Emrys Koenigsmann, Mari Kotze, and Will Melton; and two great grandchildren, Jade Koenigsman and Mia Kotze.


A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, 2:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church, 75 Pomona Road, Galloway, NJ 08215, where a visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore, P.O. Box 853, Pomona, NJ 08240.
