Reverend Thomas S. Donio, 72, of Hammonton, NJ passed away at home on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was a lifelong resident of Hammonton. Father Donio graduated from Rowan University in Glassboro, and Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Art and music were very important to him, he played in several bands and orchestra ensembles.
Father Tom was ordained as a priest on May, 20, 1995 at St. Peter's Church in Merchantville by Most Reverend James T. McHugh. Father Tom served as a parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, Absecon; St. Mary's parish, Williamstown and St. Thomas More parish, Cherry Hill. He served as administrator and pastor at Nativity parish, Franklinville and as pastor at St. Martin de Porres; St. Joseph parish; and St. Anthony of Padua parish, all in Hammonton. Fr. Tom was the founding pastor of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, Hammonton and then served as chaplain at Ancora State Hospital in Winslow Township until his death. Father Tom also served on both the Diocesan Liturgical Commission and the Diocesan Presbyteral Council, as well as chaplain for the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society in Hammonton and the Knights of Columbus Padre Pio Council.
He was predeceased by his parents Salvatore "Buddy" and Santa "Sue" (nee Cessato) Donio, and his brother in law, Tom Hickey. He is survived by his siblings, Lois C. Hickey, Dennis M. Donio (Nancy), Susan G. Donio, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends, and his cats whom he cherished Carol, Samson, Peanut and Monkey.A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt Carmel Parish Church of St Anthony, 285 Route 206 in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Most Reverend Joseph A. Williams. Burial will follow Mass at Oak Grove Cemetery, 500 N. White Horse Pike in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society, PO Box 182, Hammonton, NJ
