Mary L DiMaio Obituary

Mary Lillian DiMaio (O'Neil), 75, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Mainland Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born in Hammonton, NJ, and raised in Sicklerville, NJ, by her late parents, Harold E. O'Neil Sr. and Lillian M. O'Neil (Donaldson). She worked as a Nurse's Aide at Washington Township Hospital, Kessler Memorial Hospital, Pitman Manor Nursing Home, and Absecon Manor Nursing Home, where she truly enjoyed helping others. Mary also worked for a brief period at Casino Limousine in Pleasantville, NJ, before becoming a bus driver for the Egg Harbor Township Board of Education. She proudly drove the bus for seventeen years and loved her work. Outside of her career, Mary volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader for many years.

Mary was a kind and loving wife, mother, Grammy, and the most loyal friend one could ask for. She had a heart of gold. Mary enjoyed talking with others for hours on end, and her memory was like no other. She loved doing crafts, puzzles, word searches, and most of all, crocheting. She was known for her delicious apple pies, infectious laughter, and a listening ear for anyone in need.

Her greatest joy was time spent with her late husband of 50 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed summer camping trips with her children and grandchildren, which provided endless hours of entertainment. She looked forward to the kids' visits and sleepovers, where they would play games, do crafts, or go shopping. Most of all, she loved attending their sporting events - especially trips to the racetrack, cheer competitions, and soccer, softball, wrestling, and football games - to cheer them on. She was one of the biggest cheerleaders for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those she loved and the hearts she touched over the years.

Mary is predeceased by her loving husband John F. DiMaio Jr., and her parents Harold and Lillian O'Neil.

Mary is survived by her four children: John F. DiMaio III (Sharron), Cheryl DiMaio, James E. DiMaio (Jennifer), and Peggy Suhr (Albert); two brothers, Harold "Howie" E. O'Neil (JoAnn), Robert O'Neil (Patricia); and one sister, Peggy McIntire. She was a loving "Grammy" to ten grandchildren: Christopher DiMaio; Nichole and Johnny IV DiMaio; Rebecca, Annalena, and Julia DiMaio; Emily and Elizabeth Suhr; and Raegan and David DiMaio; and six great-grandchildren: Braedon, Asher, Brantley, Arielle DiMaio, Avery Henry, and Sage Biddle. In addition, Mary acquired a "racetrack grandson" Vincent Rebardo. She will be dearly missed by her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11 .m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home, located at 202 S. 3rd Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
