Brenda (Platanella, Owens) Leone, 82 of Hammonton passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, after complications from a recent emergency surgery. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Hammonton, she was a Graduate of Hammonton High School Class of 1961. Brenda graduated from Graduate Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1962. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Brenda formerly worked for Kessler Memorial Hospital, Hope Health Care and for Doctor Alexander Rodi. She retired in 2020 at the age of 76, but her dedication to nursing never faded. Even in retirement, she continued to provide home care to local residents, offering comfort, kindness, and experienced support until her final days. Brenda will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering work ethic, and the gentle presence she brought to all who knew her. Her love for helping others, especially her family and friends, was the hallmark of her life.

She was predeceased by her mother, Pauline (Jacobs) Pencek, her father, Edward Platanella, stepfather, Leonard Pencek, her husband Anthony J. Leone and the father of her children, John W. Owens.

Brenda is survived by her daughters, Kimberly DeClement and her husband Fred, Sherri Owens, her stepdaughters, Mary Pilling (Gary), Toni Carol Spadaro and Joan Farley, her sisters, Edna Mazzola and Carol Sherwin (Barry); her grandsons, Corey Bollinger, Blake Bollinger, Michael Miranda (Jaclyn), Daniel Pilling (Courtney) and Brian Spadaro. Brenda is also survived by her great grandchildren, Nathaniel Pilling, Norah  Pilling, Anthony Miranda, Lucas Miranda and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, NJ. A second Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph's 226 French St., Hammonton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Brenda's name to St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, 226 French St., Hammonton, NJ 08037
