Edward John Began, 78, of Hammonton, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Neenah, WI he lived in Hammonton for 13 years. Before moving to this area, he was a Retired Lieutenant with the Wisconsin State Patrol Police. He moved from Wisconsin to become head of security at DuPont Chemical Company in Delaware. He was a proud veteran who served in the Vietnam War and was awarded several medals including a Bronze Star and an Air Medal. Ed enjoyed golfing especially with his group of friends known as "The Dogs."

He is survived by his loving wife, Amelia "Mimi" Neil and her children, Christine Fiorentino Marts, Corrine Butler and her husband Tim, James N. Wood; his brothers, Daniel Began and Joseph Began; two sisters in law, Sister Linda Neil, CSJ; Elizabeth "Wibby" Mazuk, five grandchildren, Joseph Crist, Nico Marts, Rocco Marts, Olivia Butler and Charlotte Butler and two great grandchildren, Sonny and Margot Crist and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street Hammonton, NJ, where funeral services and military honors will begin at 3:00 PM.
