Irene Perez - Cruz, 83 of Egg Harbor City passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Virtua Health Systems in Voorhees. Born in Isabela, Puerto Rico she was a resident of the Atlantic County area for forty five years.Before retiring she worked at several casinos in Atlantic City. Irene enjoyed crocheting, singing, dancing, talking, cooking, spending time with her family and shopping and returning items. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary everyday.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Demetrio Cortes Ortiz, her son, Edwin Cortes and her daughter, Diana Cortes. She is survived by five children, Angel Cortes (Walfa), Eddie Cortes (Melissa Escribano), Norberto Cortes, Demetrio Cortes Jr., and Evelyn Cortes, two brothers, Hector Perez and Armando Perez, one sister, Margarita Perez - Cruz, sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street in Hammonton. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 124 S. First Road in Hammonton.
