In Loving Memory of Harry Marshall Groves Jr

September 17, 1986 – April 22, 2025

Harry Marshall Groves Jr., age 38, passed away on Tuesday, April 22nd, leaving behind a world made brighter, louder, and more loving because he was in it. A devoted husband, cherished son, beloved brother and uncle, and friend to all, Harry was truly one of a kind—funny, fearless, and full of heart.

Born in southern New Jersey, Harry lit up every room he entered. Whether it was with his quick wit, sharp style, or the big laugh that followed one of his legendary stories, people naturally gravitated toward him. He had the rare gift of making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved—and he never ended a conversation without saying exactly that: "I love you."

Harry was the life of the party and the glue of his family. He had an especially close bond with his mother, whom he spoke to every single day. He also shared a brother-like friendship with his nephew Matthew, and their wild adventures together were the stuff of family legend. He absolutely adored his nieces and nephews, especially his nephew Nicky, with whom he shared a love of scary films and late-night laughs.

A man of deep intelligence, Harry had a lifelong love of math, a brilliant mind, and a work ethic that made him a joy to work with. He loved his job and his coworkers, and always found a way to bring joy to the workplace. If we know Harry, he's probably selling solar panels to the houses in heaven, cracking jokes while he's at it.

One of Harry's greatest joys was joining his father and Uncle Bill every year on their cherished trip to Williamsport for the Little League World Series. It was just one of many traditions that reflected his deep love for family, fun, and baseball.

Beyond all else, Harry was a man of faith. His church community was a cornerstone in his life, and he drew great strength from his relationship with God. That unshakable faith shone through in the way he treated others—with kindness, humor, generosity, and love.

He is survived by his wife, Rissel, who was the light of his life, and by a family who loved him fiercely. He is preceded in death by his father and best friend, Harry Sr., and his beloved sister Jeannine. Harry is survived by his loving mother Sue Fichetola (nee Holmes), his step-father Bill Fichetola, his brother Joe Groves (a.k.a. Frank Florentino), his sister Rebecca Villani (brother-in-law Michael and nephews Ryan & Colin), his sister Jennifer Hall (brother-in-law Eli and niece Madailein), his sister Emily Midure (brother-in-law Sal and niece Lorelei and nephew Gunnar) and his nephews Matthew Campione & Nicholas Lenhart.

A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Monday, April 28th at 4pm to 7pm at Carnesale Funeral Home at 202 S. Third Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037. The viewing will be from 4pm to 6:00pm, followed by the service from 6 to 7pm. In his honor, all are welcome to share laughter, memories, and maybe a story or two that would've made him proud—or made him blush. Bright outfits and louder-than-life smiles are encouraged, just the way Harry would've wanted it. Funeral service will be live-streamed beginning 5:45 pm at Carnesaele Funeral  Home Hammonton You Tube Channel, where viewers can subscribe.

Taken far too soon, but never forgotten, Harry's legacy lives on in every laugh, every kind word, every family gathering and every heart he touched. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to Jesus in the Midst Ministries at 340 S. Egg Harbor Rd., Hammonton, NJ 08037 or the Hammonton Lions Club at P.O. Box 22, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
