Joyce Rosa Pierce, daughter of the late Ida Mae Thomas Bumbrey and Robert Bumbrey Jr. was born in Camden, NJ on February 17, 1939. Joyce was educated in the Camden City School District in New Jersey. During the late 1950'sshe worked in the gift shop of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital located in Camden, New Jersey, where she met her husband to be, Alexander Pierce, Jr. Through their union they had 3 children, Andre Lamont, Jeffrey Lyle (predeceased) and Sharette Lynn. She attended Camden County College where she earned an Associate Degree in Education and worked for 32 years as an Instructional Assistant with elementary students in the Camden City School District. Since childhood, Joyce enjoyed going to church and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a young woman in her twenties. She joined Broadway Bible Tabernacle, later known as Calvary Bible Tabernacle Church, singing on the Senior Choir and became the Choir Director during the 1980's for more than ten years. Joyce also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, visiting and being with family and friends. Joyce departed this life and was called Home to Glory on May 2, 2020. Joyce leaves behind her beloved husband, of 62 years, Alexander Pierce Jr., son Andre Lamont Pierce and daughter Sharette Pierce, one sister Carol Bumbrey, two brothers Robert Bumbrey and Keith Bumbrey; nieces, Audrey Drummonds, Sharon Holmes (Richard), Priscilla Radcliffe (Rick), LaRhonda Bumbrey, and Doreen Crone (Darrell); her nephews, Carl Johnson, Johnathan Drummonds Sr. (Donna), and James Cochrane Jr.(Dorrie). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aneesha Phillips, Patrice Pierce, Latwan Newton, Jeffrey Pierce Jr., Celeste Nelson, Akeem Pierce and Markiese Pierce (Brittany) and a host of great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Services and Entombment in Greenmount Cemetery will be Private.
