Obituary of Catherine Steele

Catherine Steele (nee Bruno) , 98, of Hammonton passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Bishop McCarthy Center in Vineland. Born in Hammonton she was a lifelong resident there. Mrs. Steele had worked at Crown Pants Company in Hammonton, then Ancora Psychiatric Hospital where she earned her GED. After earning her GED she was hired to work at Whitehall Laboratories in the Quality Control Department. Mrs. Steele was a member of St. Rita's Society at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, and she was a volunteer at Kessler Memorial Hospital both in Hammonton. She was predeceased by her husband Rexford Steele, and her granddaughter Barbara Lynn Yakubovsky. She is survived by one son, Warren Steele of Somers Point; one daughter, Barbara Yakubovsky (Mike) of Hammonton; one sister, Rose Storey of Hammonton; three grandchildren, Jeff Steele, Michael Yakubovsky (Lynn), and Deborah Basich (Blaze), seven great grandchildren, Cora Lynn Yakubovsky, Victoria, Joseph, and Michael Basich, Ivy, Abby and Troy Steele; and her former daughter in law, Debby Freeman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton, where funeral services will take place Thursday at 8:00 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
