Obituary of Mildred B. Penza

Mildred B. Penza, 103, (nee Berenato) of Hammonton passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017. Born in Hammonton she was a lifelong Hammonton resident. As a youth, Mildred worked at Kessler Clothing Factory as a button hole seamstress. Later, marrying Carmine, she worked on the family garden farm. Millie is best known for working diligently on the farm, but always having three meals prepared for her family each day, and she was renowned for her pies, pizza, bread, sauce and meatballs. Mildred was a loyal wife, inspiring mother, and was the essence of a family matriarch. Mrs. Penza was predeceased by her husband of 75 years Carmine J. Penza. She is survived by her two daughters, Mildred Peretti (Frank); Linda Frankenfield (Bob) both of Hammonton; two sons, Angelo Penza (Maryann) of Martinsville, NJ and Charles J. Penza (Susan) of Hammonton; 10 grandchildren: Angelo, (Nadia) Penza, Regina Williams, Chuck Penza, Lori (Chris) Flickenger, Traci (John) Swayne, Lynn (Dennis) Strigh, Shelley Weckerly, Frank (Stacy) Peretti, Michael (Missy) Peretti and Robert Peretti. She also has 11 great grandchildren: Olivia Strigh, Sara, Annabella, Emma, Victoria,and Valentina Peretti, Jonathan and Charlie Swayne, Allie and Joe Bagliani and Michael Penza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11:00am in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua, 285 Route 206, Hammonton, where a viewing will be held from 9:30am until 11:00am. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Donny Fund, (a charity that assists local families with children facing catastrophic illnesses c/o 1000 Bay Drive Egg Harbor Twp., NJ 08234 or to AtlantiCare Hospice, PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
