Obituary of Joseph Charles Giacobbe

Joseph Charles Giacobbe (Joe), age 79 of Hammonton NJ passed away from Parkinson’s disease surrounded by his loving wife and children on December 14, 2016 in Pomona, NJ. Joe, born on July 9, 1937, was a life-long resident of Hammonton, NJ. He was the second oldest of 10 children to the late Charles and Eleanor (Baranek) Giacobbe. Joe attended St. Joseph’s School prior to joining the US Navy. Joe is best remembered by family and friends as “Big Brother”, the owner/operator of Joe Giacobbe and Son Trucking. Joe enjoyed time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, as well as cooking, playing cards, driving his truck and taking care of everyone. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna (Rogowski) of Hammonton; his loving children, Joseph of Ventnor, NJ, Gloria Burchill and her fiancée Greg Seres of Freehold, NJ, Margaret “Mickey” Matise (Joe) of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren Jason, Eric, Joey, Arianna (Andy), Tyler, Anthony, Timothy, Jonathan, and Nicolas; along with his great grandchild Joey and grand-dog Spencer; his siblings Frances (Pete) Bellace, Albert “Butch” (Carol), Charles, Anthony “Wicky” (Leigh), JoAnn (Tom) Glenn, MaryAnn (George) Smith, Pauline “Penny”(John) Arminger, John (Terry), and Richard. Joe held a special place in his heart for all of his numerous nieces and nephews and their families, especially his and Anna’s Godchild, JoAnn Dolson. Joe loved and was loved by too many to mention. The immediate family would like to thank everyone for always loving and respecting this wonderful man. Reverend Neal Dante will be celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, December 17, 2016 11:00am in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 285 Route 206 Hammonton, where a visitation will be held from 9:30am until 11:00am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Joe’s name be made to AtlantiCare Hospice, PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232 and/or National Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to AtlantiCare Hospice for their loving care of Joe, especially Tammi Cooper and all the staff at 1 Meadow, AtlantiCare Medical Center, Pomona, NJ.
