Obituary of Ruben M Roman

Ruben M. Roman, "Poppy" passed away peacefully at Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center with his family by his side on Wednesday the 27th of May at the age of 76 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Ruben is survived by Hilda his loving wife and caregiver of 54 years. They were married at St. Joseph's RC Church in Hammonton on July 20, 1961. Ruben is lovingly remembered by his children whom devoted their lives as a family to give him round the clock home care. He was born in Ponce Puerto Rico in March 1939. Ruben worked at Bally's Park Place Casino for 21 1/2 years. He enjoyed going to horse races and watching baseball, especially the Phillies. He also loved playing the guitar and would play for his family, church, and was in a band for many years. Ruben was a member of the Cursillo de Cristiandad, he was a Sunday school teacher and played in the Spanish Choir at St. Joseph's Church. He also drove a school bus for the church Sunday school program He was predeceased by his daughter, Maria Roman. In addition to his wife Hilda L. Roman, (nee Fernandez) he is survived by his children: Magali Williams, Yvette Bates, Hilda Daly, Ruben Roman, Jr., Elizabeth Savino, Anthony Roman, Sr., Richard Roman and his wife Lisette, Luis Roman, Lourdes Roman, Virgen Conley, Diane Falzetta; his two brothers: Santos Roman; Juan Roman; his sisters: Nilda Perez, Carmen Roman, Elsie Perez, Margarita Vega; Gloria Vega; 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00pm Monday June 1, 2015 in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French St., Hammonton. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hammonton. Viewings will be held Sunday evening 6:30 pm - 9:00pm and again on Monday 11:30am - 12:30pm at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, NJ
