Obituary of Gus Tzaferos

Gus Tzaferos, 69, of Hammonton passed away on Tuesday May 5, 2015 at his residence. Born in Agriosikia Glyfada Evia, Greece he lived in Hammonton for 46 years. At the age of 18, Gus came to Hammonton to work for William B. Kessler as a tailor. In 1978 he opened UBIA Sportswear in Hammonton. In 1980 he opened Silver Coin Diner and Pagus Sportswear. He opened the Meadows Diner in Blackwood, Pavilion Pizza in Newfield and GT Fashions in Hammonton all in 1984. Gus owned the Ye Old Midway Inn in Buena, and Apollo Presentations, which brings Greek Shows to Atlantic City Casinos. He also owns Passions Florist in Hammonton. Gus loved golfing, playing cards, going to the Casinos and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point and the Order of Italian Sons & Daughters of America in Hammonton. Gus served as President on the Board of St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church. He is survived by his wife, Rita Tzaferos (nee Koutsaftis); his son and daughter in law, Gus and Ewa Tzaferos, Jr of Voorhees, his daughter, Kali Tzaferos of Hammonton, his two granddaughters, Eleni and Nikoleta Tzaferos of Voorhees, his father, Nikolas Tzaferos of Agriosikia Glyfada Evia, Greece, his brother, George Tzaferos and his wife Sandy of Hammonton, his sister Alexandra Gioulio and her husband, Tasos of Agriosikia Glyfada Evia, Greece, his mother in law, Kalliopi Koutsaftis of Hammonton, his brother in law, Tasos Koutsaftis and his wife Pam of Ohio and his two nieces, Alexa Tzaferos and Nikoleta Taylor. A viewing will be held Thursday May 7, 2015 from 6:00pm- 9:00pm at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St, Hammonton. Funeral Services will be held Friday May 8, 2015, 11:00am in St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church, 430 W. Wheat Road, Vineland, NJ where a viewing will be held from 10:00am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church.
