Obituary of Sybe Stuart DeVries

Sybe Stuart DeVries, 85, of Hammonton beloved son of the late Sybe and Helen DeVries passed away peacefully on Saturday, November, 15, 2014 at home. He was a lifelong resident of Hammonton. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Stuart served with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service District C - 8 as a Forest Fire Warden for over fifty years. He was an avid hunter, and member of the DaCosta Sportsman Gunning Club and the American Legion Post No. 186. Before retiring he worked as the Supervisor of Clinical Laboratories at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital for over forty three years. He was predeceased by his daughter, JoAnn DeFelice, his brother, James DeVries, and three sisters, Helene Haines McKormich, Margaret Fedga, and Agnes DeVries. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Marie DeVries (nee Barclay); two sons, Stuart W. DeVries Sr. (Ana), and William M. DeVries; three grandchildren, Jennifer DeFelice, Tiffany DeVries, and Stuart W. DeVries Jr. all of Hammonton; one brother, Norman DeVries of Williamstown; and one sister, Carol DeVries of Egg Harbor City. Also survived by several brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, and Thurday November 20, 2014 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street in Hammonton. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.
